Dear Friends:
I again take my pen in hand to write a few linesto you, we are

all well at present andhope that these few lines may find you the same,
I have been quite unwell the most of the summer and so has Jerusha, we •
are both better now. I received your kind letter a long time ago, and was • " 9
glad to hear from you and to hear that you was all well, I was at home,
Asa, forwarded it to me from Buffalo I am sorry that I neglected writing
so for I should like to hear from you again, but it is to late now I have

enrolled Auy najae upon the fighting list, I think 1 am in good fighting
order: I weigh 168 pounds, the Oneida- redgiment starts Wednesday.
I have not passedexamination yet and don't know" how I shall make out *
yet, our company are to be enfield riflemen, there were several of our
Vienna boys in the Battle at Bulls Run, some of which were
killed, my folks do not know as I have listed nor they will not know it
until I am off, (if I get shot tTute I shal lay it all to you ) I had a •
letter from Aunt Laura Smith a short time ago, she said that Riley Cove 11,
had -listed, I have not heard from Uncle Vfrn. this summer he is living at
Me Connellgvin.e bin bgvgare working the Maddock farm. I don't think of
anything more to write at present, do not write until you hear from me
